You may have read about using your time productively, achieving more in less time, exercising that helps the mind to be alert, and many more life skills, and activities that help us lead healthy and productive lives. Practicing these skills, certainly gives us more energy, and a sense of accomplishment.

But, life has a lot of bends and twists, and navigating those curves is not always easy. Things happen…for the better or for the worse. Sometimes, we say things intentionally or unintentionally, that can cause a storm, and spoil our entire day or days. It may even go on for years, bringing our mood and energy levels down. Or, life can take a toll with the loss of someone, whom we care dearly about. Yes, things happen, and often we have no control over it… For some it can seem like the end of the road, while some others seem much better in control. What makes some of us so different, that some people seem to have such peaceful and complacent lives, while many others drift restlessly?

Growing up in India, I was fortunate to have a subject called “Moral Science” in school. This was not a compulsory subject, we had no exams, and it was a relaxing subject, where the teacher would read a story with a moral, and then explained the moral, in a bit more depth. These stories appealed to me a lot, and I always looked forward to this…
